On Thursday, August 07, 2014, Herbert Joseph Alleman of Lake Charles passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on February 14, 1927 in Rayne, LA, where he graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1944. After serving in the Navy during World War II, he graduated from Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) with a B.S. in Chemistry. He moved to Lake Charles in 1951 where he worked as a chemist at the Cities Service refinery for 37 years. After his retirement, he taught Industrial Chemistry at McNeese State University for three years. He was a very active member of the American Chemical Society, Southwest Louisiana Section, and was elected chairman three times. He was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church and a long-time member of the Lake Charles Racquet Club. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Georgette Arceneaux Alleman; one son, Dr. Michael Alleman and his wife Angela of Lafayette; two daughters, Rebecca (Becki) Chaisson and her husband Marc of Lake Charles, and Emily Wharton and her husband David of Baton Rouge; one sister, Joyce Chiasson and her husband Leroy of Pearland, TX; three grandchildren, Whitman Alleman and Ashlin and Madison Wharton; and beloved family members Therese Arceneaux, Emily (Mémé) Areceneaux, Leon Arceneaux, Jr. and his wife Margie, and George Arceneaux. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leodice and Corinne Trahan Alleman; one son, Matthew Alleman; and one brother, Robert Alleman. Funeral services will be held at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday, August 10, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM and resuming Monday from 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 6:00 PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Serving as Pallbearers will be Garland Chiasson, Guy Chiasson, Randy Alleman, Joey Alleman, Bobby Dammonn, and William Chiasson.
