Hilda Beilin Perry Landry died peacefully at home on the morning of December 11, 2012. She was born in New York, New York on September 24, 1925 to Samuel and Pauline Beilin. Hilda came to Louisiana after marrying Gordon Perry, and she worked for Columbia Southern in the 1950s. After Gordon Perry's death, she married James O. Landry, Jr. and lived in various locations including Mexico, Holland and Germany during his tenure as an engineer with M.W. Kellogg. Upon returning to Lake Charles, she worked as a nurse at St. Patrick Hospital for 21 years, retiring in 1990. She enjoyed reading, traveling (usually with her sister, Edith Gigi Scott) and her family and friends, particularly her friends from water aerobics. She was a member of Temple Sinai.
Hilda was preceded in death by her husband, James O. Landry, Jr., and her sisters, Ann Luce and Julia Gross. She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Paula Ellen Trahan and husband Charles Trahan and their children Abby, Amalia and Raul of Marana, Arizona; her son, Robert E. Landry and wife Kristin Futrell Landry and children Shelby and Alexander; her sister, Edith Scott of Corpus Christi, Texas; her nephew, Steven Luce and family of Dallas, Texas; and her niece, Linda Scott of Portland, Oregon.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, at Johnson Funeral Home, with a Memorial Service beginning at 2:00 PM.
