Hilda Mae Conner Trahan Sickafus, 97, passed away in a local care facility on February 22, 2018.
She was born in Grand Chenier, Louisiana to Luc “Luke” and Myrtle Vallette Conner. Mrs. Sickafus moved to Lake Charles after Hurricane Audrey in 1957, where she raised her family. She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, fishing and gardening. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church until she moved to Lake Charles where she then attended St. Henry Catholic Church.
Mrs. Sickafus is survived by three sons, Billy Ray “Billy” Trahan and wife Sheila of Lake Charles, Carlton Lee “Butterball” Trahan and wife Dorothy of Houma, and Hilary “Poochie” Trahan and wife Nedia Ann of Cameron; one stepson, James E. “Bodie” LaBove of Creole, LA; one sister, Josephine Leona “Jo” Derouen of Lake Charles; one brother, Adam Columbus “Cob” Conner and wife Carla of Central, SC; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great grandchildren and fifteen great great grandchildren and three great great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of fifteen years, Lloyd Ernest “Bob” Sickafus; one son, Terry P. Trahan; one daughter, Linda Mae Trahan Conner; one grandson, Timothy Luke Trahan; two great grandsons, Shawn Wayne Armentor and Shandy Shane Conner; her parents Luc “Luke” and Myrtle Vallette Conner; two brothers, Joseph Lamuel “Chuckee” and George “Pete” Conner; and one sister, Vienna Marie Myers; and one brother in law, Jay Derouen.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 PM on Monday, February 26, 2018 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Sweet Lake, LA. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Burial will take place in Little Chenier Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home following the service. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Sunday from 4 PM until 8 PM with a rosary to be recited at 6 PM. Visitation will resume at the funeral home on Monday from 9 AM until 1 PM.
