Hilda Miller Crain

Hilda Miller Crain, 77, of Grand Lake, LA, died at 4:17 PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 in a local care facility.
 
Mrs. Crain was born August 8, 1938 in Grand Chenier, where she lived most of her life until moving to Sweetlake eight years ago. She was a 1956 graduate of Grand Chenier High School and attended McNeese State University and Sowela Tech. She worked for Crain Bros, Inc. for over fifty years. Mrs. Crain was a member of Grand Chenier United Methodist Church and attended Sweetlake United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was very active in community events and was a member of the Grand Chenier Homemakers Club and made the scrapbook and cookbooks for the Cameron Parish Fur and Wildlife Festival. She was also a member of the Cameron Preservation Alliance Sabine Lighthouse, Inc. and was an officer for the Crain Bros Ranch. Mrs. Crain had a knack for taking pictures and enjoyed tending to her plants and garden. She also took great joy in traveling, fishing and cooking. She will always be remembered as a loving mother, sister, and friend who was full of energy and life.
 
She is survived by her son, Albert John Crain; daughter, Rachel Crain Corley and husband Jerry Glenn; sisters, Lucille Hebert, Carolyn Thibodeaux, and Kathy Roberts; grandchildren, Kale Crain, Jenci Corley, Hali Corley Miller and husband Devan and Heidi Corley Thomason and husband Anthony; great-grandchildren, Maycie and Emma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Malcolm “Butch” Lyle Crain; parents, Sevan and Lida Miller; and brother, Sydney Joseph Miller.
 
Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Wayne Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Sweetlake –Grand Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
 
Donations in her memory can be made to the Grand Chenier or Sweetlake United Methodist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
