Hilda P. Henry

            Hilda P. Henry is now in heaven dancing with the love of her life, James Henry. She passed away in the comfort of her home on Sunday, December 17, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

            Hilda was born on September 26, 1924 in Lake Charles to Henry and Bertha Peloquin. Hilda’s roots in her Catholic faith were well established from the beginning as she was a graduate of St. Charles Academy. She was married to James S. Henry for 49 years. They raised their three children in Lake Charles before moving to Cameron after her husband’s retirement. She lived a short period of time in Lacassine before settling in Lake Charles.

            Hilda’s main focus in life was her family and serving others. She loved to cook for her family and friends. She will always be remembered for her pranks and witty sense of humor. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters for over 60 years, serving as Grand Regent multiple times in several Catholic Parishes. She was a member of the St. Charles Academy Parent Club and was inducted into the St. Louis Catholic High School’s Hall of Fame.   She served on the Cattlemen’s Association Board and the Fur and Wildlife Festival Committee. She enjoyed volunteering her time as a catechism teacher and later at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church scheduling memorial masses, which she did up until her illness.

            She leaves behind to honor her memory her three children; Ell Ray “Knute” Henry (Carol), Melanie Hebert (Paul), and Mike Henry, Sr. (Natalie); 9 grandchildren, Michelle Cutrera (Mark), Mike Henry, Jr., Chad Henry (Melody), Christi Nussmeire (Douglas), Heather Hebert, Brandon Henry (Kendal), Tonia Oustalet (Darren), Todd Henry (Nikkie), and Ashely Marciante (Michael); sister-in-law, Betty Henry; niece, Carol Martin; step grandchildren, Adam Elfert (Jill) and Candace Schreiber (Brett); 29 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.      

            She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Bertha Peloquin; husband, James Henry; one grandchild; one sister-in-law, Kathryn Henry Martin; and nephew, Jim Martin, and mother-in-law Willie Stine Henry.

           A Mass of Christian Burial will be observed at 1:30 PM, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church. Monsignor Harry Greig will act as celebrant with Monsignor Daniel Torres concelebrating. Entombment will be in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Monday December 18 with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the funeral home.
