Hollie L. Brumit

October 26, 1938 — February 10, 2011

Hollie Loretta Adcock Brumit, 72, of Lake Charles died Thursday, February 10, 2011 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by family.


Mrs. Brumit was born and raised in Lake Charles and was a graduate of LaGrange High School. She followed her husband's career in the United States Air Force, having lived throughout the Southern United States. Following his retirement they moved back to Lake Charles where she has lived the past forty years. Mrs. Brumit was very active for thirty five years with the Girl Scout's of America where she was a leader for her children, grandchildren and a group that she led until their age of completion at 18. She was a volunteer room mother for the 1st grade at Pearl Watson Elementary where her daughter is a teacher. Mrs. Brumit was also a volunteer at Lake Charles Memorial and Women and Children hospitals. She enjoyed the good times had with her sisters of the WC Nifty Fifties Plus Red Hat Society. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church.


Mrs. Brumit will be most remembered for her love and devotion to her husband, children and grandchildren, as she took great pride in caring for her family.


She leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Eliazbeth Diane Greenlee and Charlotte Louise Doty and husband Albert, all of Lake Charles and Cathy Marie Ross and husband Greg of Cordova, TN; five grandchildren, Robert Craig Pauley of Lake Charles, Jeffery Scott Greenlee of Irving, TX, Hollie Elizabeth Lyons and husband Michael and Heather Diane Greenlee, both of Lake Charles and Randall Alexander Ross of Cordova, TN; one great- grandchild, Aubrie Nicole Lyons of Lake Charles; three step- grandchildren; one step- great grandchild; many nieces and nephews and her friends of the Red Hat Society.


She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty two years, Clarence Clayton Brumit; her parents and three brothers.


Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Sunday, February 13, 2011 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Reverend Don Varnadore will officiate. Interment will follow in Prien Memorial Park. Visitation Sunday will be from 11:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
