Hollie Peavy Smith, Sr., 88, of Lake Charles, died Thursday November 22, 2012 at his residence.
Hollie was born in Lufkin, Texas to William Hollie and Gladys Peavy Smith. He proudly served our country during World War II in the United States Marines in the Pacific Theater and retired from CITGO as a safety supervisor. A master woodworker, Hollie filled his families' homes with unique and decorative wooden pieces that were crafted not only with his skill, but love.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Joe Smith, and a daughter, Linda Darlene Langley. Those left to honor and cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 61 years, Imogene Diseker Smith, Lake Charles; four children, Hollie Pete Smith, Jr., Lake Charles, Steve Smith and wife Kathy, Lake Charles, Barbara Lynn Kraus and husband Mark, Kingwood, Texas, and Leslie K. Smith and wife Shelly, Lake Charles; one sister, Kay Francis Bullock and husband Waymon, Etoile, Texas; ten grandchildren, Cody Michael Smith, Ethan T. Smith, Eric Smith and wife Kellie, Lauren Treme and husband Dustin, Jessica Kraus, Ben Kraus, Megan Smith, Samuel Hunter Smith, Molly Ann Smith and Alexis Langley; and three great grandchildren, Cooper Smith, Parker Smith, and Mason Treme and another one on the way.
Graveside services will be today, November 24, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Highland Memory Gardens Mausoleum with Gary Davis officiating under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express their deep gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for the excellent care that was shown to our husband and father during his illness.
