Edlynn Hope Guillotte, 86, of Moss Bluff stepped into Heaven at 2:35 AM on Saturday, June 26, 2021 in a local hospital following a brief illness.
Ms. Guillotte was born on November 15, 1934 in Alexandria where she was a graduate of Bolton High School. In 1952 she moved to Lake Charles for a short time before marrying and becoming an Army wife until 1974, which offered her the opportunity to live all over the world before coming back home. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff for the past 38 years.
Her love for babies and children was extraordinary. She found happiness and peace in holding and cuddling with babies. This love led her to foster upwards of 40 children in a 13-year period. Her passion for children was shown while working in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Lake Charles from 1968 until 1983 and in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff from 1983 until her recent brief illness.
Those left to cherish her memory are seven children, Robert L. Guillotte, II (Gail) of Moss Bluff, Joy Lynn Lisemby (Joel) of Kingsland, AR, William “Bill” Guillotte (Leslie) of Moss Bluff, Scott C. Guillotte of Andalusia, AL, Maleia Blanchette of Moss Bluff, Brandon Guillotte of Longville, and Laurianne Janice Guillotte of Moss Bluff; a foster daughter, Sheryl Ahrens (Ben) of Connecticut; a sister, Joy Dawn Allee of Moss Bluff; 19 grandchildren, Michael Paul Guillotte, Jessica Brooke Thibodeaux (Zach), Stephanie Nicole Johnson (Chase), Kristen Elizabeth Lee, Melody Lauren (fiancé Colbey Deal, Mercy SuLynn, Brooklyn Joellé, Jamie Victoria-Hope, and April Joy-Noel Lisemby, Anna Valladares (Henry), Dylan Windsor, Andrew Guillotte (Kourtney), Dawson Windsor, Donna Marie Guillotte, Tyler Campbell, Taylor Goodson, Ashley Ingalls, Hannah Guillotte, and Nicole Ahrens; 13 great grandchildren, Drake, Journey, Brooks, Nathan, Selah, Lily, Lucas, Cruz, Anthony, Zander, and Roman; a niece, Gayla Dawn Broussard (Gil); and a nephew, Dohn Edwin Allee; great niece, Rebeka Myers (Joe); great nephew, John David Broussard (fiancé Jenny); and great great nephew, Jasper Myers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, LTC Robert L. Guillotte; an infant son, Steven Paul Guillotte; 5 angel babies in Heaven; and granddaughter, Makayla Lynn Campbell; and her parents, Edwin and Thelma Rush.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 9, 2021 in the First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff. Dr. Steve Bennett will officiate. Burial will follow in New Ritchie Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home in Moss Bluff. Visitation will begin in the church on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will continue Friday from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Paul Guillotte, Andrew Guillotte, Tyler Campbell, John David Broussard, Chase Johnson, Henry Valladares, Dylan Windsor, and Dawson Windsor.
