Heaven’s music just got so much sweeter with the passing of Hubert J. Timpa, 88. He passed away on August 17, 2023. Hubert was born on November 7, 1934, and was a lifelong resident of Lake Charles. He served in the Louisiana National Guard and was honorably discharged from duty after serving for 12 years. For 47 years he worked as a Building Inspector for the City of Lake Charles.
He used his God-given musical talent playing the steel guitar. He started at a young age playing with Cleveland Crochet and finished his musical years playing gospel music with The Crochet Family. He also used his talent playing in his church.
Hubert enjoyed the outdoors of SWLA and for many years was a fishing and hunting guide for Black Lake Lodge and Cameron Meadows Lodge.
Hubert was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Ruth Timpa; brother, Nick Timpa; and sister, Bernice Ciambotti. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Louise Perry Timpa; sons, Sammy Dwayne Timpa (Norma), Johnny Timpa (Debbie), Michael Wendel (Sarah) and Carlis Faler (Tonya); daughters, Lori Timpa Young (Alan) and Susan Wendel Loupe; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was loved by many nieces and nephews. A special recognition to nephew, Richard Timpa; friends, Randy Roach and Jerry Milner and traveling friends, Jack and Wilda Chelette.
His Memorial Service will be at 4:00 PM on Sunday, August 20, 2023 in the Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles chapel. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday, August 20 from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM. Pastor Dennis Dupuis will officiate the service. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
