Hubert Pierre Fontenot, 92, of Lake Charles passed away Saturday, October 04, 2014 in the comfort of his home. Mr. Fontenot was a native of Mamou, LA and has lived the past sixty-five years in Lake Charles. He worked his younger years as a Carpenter in the Construction Industry and was formerly a member of Local #953. In the early 1980's Mr. Fontenot and his wife purchased Daigle House Movers. His operation was not only successful for over twenty years, but admirable in his work ethics, efforts and meticulous planning. He enjoyed fishing, camping, vegetable gardening and woodworking. Mr. Fontenot especially loved family gatherings, barbeques and most importantly the weekend celebration of his birthday every year. A time when his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews came together for a "family slumber party", camped out in tents and RV's on his lawn and filled the house in his honor. He will be most remembered for his love and devotion to his family. Mr. Fontenot leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-five years, Gayle Durapeaux Fontenot of Lake Charles; one daughter, Michelle Fontenot McNabb and husband Carlton of Lake Charles; three sons, Roland R. Fontenot and wife Ellen of Houston, TX, Tony W. Fontenot of Iowa and Jimi Macon and wife Lecia of Atlanta, GA; twenty grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarman and Eta Vidrine Fontenot; two brothers, Moiless and Webster Fontenot; sons, Matt and Dale Macon; daughter, Gayle Macon and grandchildren, Brandon and Julia Duncan. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, October 08, 2014 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Jennings, LA. Visitation Tuesday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation Wednesday will be from 8:00 AM until the time of service in the funeral home.
