Hunner Brek Monceaux

October 10, 1994 — January 24, 2016

Hunner Brek Monceaux, 21, of Longville passed away at 6:45 PM on Sunday, January 24, 2016 in his residence.

 

Hunner was born in Jennings, LA on October 10, 1994.  In 2004 he moved to East Beauregard where he resided until moving to Longville in 2010.  He was a 2013 graduate of South Beauregard High School where he was a star basketball player.  Hunner proudly held the school record for having made the most three pointers in one game.  His talents led him to be chosen for KPLC Sports Person of the Week his senior year.  Amongst receiving many other awards and recognitions, Hunner was a recipient of the Louisiana Young Heroes Award in 2013.  Hunner was currently working for Benton Equipment and Construction as a foreman. 

 

He will be remembered for his love of the outdoor sports of hunting, fishing, and golfing.  Hunner had a memorable personality that will forever be missed as well as an impressionable spirit.

 

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted high school sweetheart and wife, McCall Thibodeaux Monceaux of Longville; his parents, Donald and Meredith Monceaux; two brothers, Tyler Seth Monceaux (Madison) and Collin Ray Monceaux all of Longville; a nephew, Harlan Monceaux; maternal grandfather, Larry Broussard (Juanita) of Jennings; maternal grandmother, Violet Gaspard of Oberlin; paternal grandfather, Donald Monceaux, Sr. (Elaine) of Jennings; paternal grandmother, Henrietta Monceaux (Tommy) of Jennings; and paternal great grandmother, Rose Sittig of Jennings.  He also leaves behind a special brother-in-law and close friend, Grant Thibodeaux (Katie) of Longville; brother-in-law, Devon Thibodeaux (Ariel) of  Longville; sister-in-law, Maci Thibodeaux of Longville; father and mother-in-law, Derick and Mena Thibodeaux of Longville, and a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by paternal great grandfather, Robert Sittig and maternal great grandmother, Lula Daigle.

 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at Squyres United Methodist Church in Ragley.  Rev. Heather Leyland and Rev. Jim Reid will officiate.  Burial will follow in Squyres-Risinger Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.  Visitation will begin in the church on Tuesday at 12:00 noon.
