We will see you again! It is with great sadness and great joy that we announce the passing of our dear father and grandfather into the arms of Jesus, our Savior. HJ, as most knew him, passed quietly surrounded by his family on January 23, 2021.
Many in the Lake Charles area are living comfortably in homes designed and constructed by HJ Builders, the company created upon the solid foundation of quality work and honest business practice, the cornerstones of a life "well built".
HJ participated in the Home Builders Association and served as president for a time. He was the developer of Lake Marie Estates, fondly named after his wife of 58 years. Later in his life, he enjoyed the company of the Senior Circle and the "Bean Bag Baseball" gamers.
He will be remembered for his generous and warm heart. He never forgot the people who helped him along the way and led by his example through his care for the less fortunate. He was a jokester for sure even to the end of his days. He always considered himself blessed and made a habit of sharing what he had been given.
Those surviving HJ are son, Byron Hebert (Mary) of Lake Charles; daughter, Jackie Hayes (Randy) of Iowa, LA; stepdaughter, Patricia Hunt (Bill); grandchildren, Brett Hebert (Kim), Kristie Hebert, Brandon Hymel (Rikki), Corey Hayes (Stacey), Becky Hunt; and great grandchildren, Ty Breaux, Aden Hayes, Kyla Hayes, Ethan Inman, Brayden Hebert, Sylar Hymel, and Myles Hymel.
Due to the pandemic, a private graveside service will be held at Highland Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
