Ida Chauffe Maylen

June 18, 1927 — February 12, 2012

Ida Marie Chauffe Maylen, 84, of Lake Charles, journey in life ended Sunday, February 12, 2012 in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loved ones.

Mrs. Maylen was a life resident of Lake Charles, having lived the past two years in Lacassine with her daughter. She was a talented artist, having received many awards for her paintings, making porcelain dolls, crocheting and sewing for both the dolls and her family. She was also very active, along with her husband, in serving the community.

Mrs. Maylen attended Christ the King Catholic Church. She enjoyed singing in the choir, the Lake Charles Messiah Choir. She taught CCD classes for many years and attended church faithfully throughout her life.

"Mrs. Maylen was an accomplished and talented woman with a loving heart. She lavished her affections on family, "adopted" family, friends and total strangers while maintaining a full and productive life. She saw herself as a blessed woman and was quick to tell anyone that her talents were gifts from God and meant to be shared. She was faithful to share of her talents and herself."

She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of sixty-five years, Bennie Louis Maylen of Lacassine; five children, Raymond Maylen and wife Loretta and Gregory Maylen and wife Cathy, both of Lake Charles, Vernett Miller and husband Stephen of Sulphur, Anita Floyd and husband Ray, Jr. and Charlotte Begnaud and husband Kevin of Lacassine; nineteen grandchildren and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
