Ida Elizabeth Chevallier

"God is so good, he was so good to me."

Ida Elizabeth Daigle Chevallier, 92, currently of Coppell, TX, went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 9th, 2022, following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Chevallier was born August 17, 1930, in Port Arthur, TX to Eucher and Esther Sloane Daigle.
Raised in Elton, LA she was a graduate of Elton High School and Elliot Business College of Beaumont. She soon realized secretarial work was not her intended purpose and pursued studies at Louisiana Baptist College in Pineville, LA where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Following her graduation she married her sweetheart, Vernon, and began her life as a pastor's wife, first-time schoolteacher, and Sunday school teacher in Jonesville, LA where she embraced opportunities to be a leader of her church and community.
Three years after their marriage, they expanded their family with her first-born son and seventeen months later, a baby girl. As her family grew, Mrs. Chevallier praised "God is Good" thanking the Lord for His many blessings. As a pastor's wife, she enjoyed several moves to new churches, schools and communities and celebrated a calling to First Baptist Church of Moss Bluff, LA near Lake Charles and her parents’ home in Sulphur. With this move, Mrs. Chevallier welcomed another baby boy to her family and began studies to obtain her Masters Degree in Education and continued to accumulate 30 additional graduate hours from McNeese State University and Northwestern State University.
A final move as Director of Missions with the Louisiana Baptist Convention for Reverend Chevallier brought continued blessing and praises to the Chevallier family, as they moved to Sulphur to be with her father. She successfully raised her children to complete high school and college educations and instilled in them the importance of a loving home and church family with never-ending thanks to the Lord for his bountiful blessings. As life progressed in age and Reverend Chevallier's health began to decline, Rev. and Mrs. Chevallier moved to Coppell, TX to be near their children. In April 2014, she said goodbye to her beloved husband. She has since lived healthy and independently until the days before her passing. Mrs. Chevallier enjoyed outings and spending time with her children and grandchildren on a weekly basis with an overwhelming love and pride in the men and women they have become.
She leaves this heartfelt message, "To my children and grandchildren, Mama loved each of you dearly and prayed daily that above all else in your lives you would have a deep love in your heart for Jesus and that you would accept Him as your Lord and Savior. I loved you but most importantly, God loves you even more."
She leaves to cherish her memory her three children, Edward Vernon Chevallier II and wife Donna of Roanoke, TX, Ginger Smith and former husband Tony of Lewisville, TX and Jeremy Chevallier and wife Milain of The Colony, TX; four grandchildren, Lindsey Davis and her husband Chris, Devin Osborne and her husband Chris, Mazie Chevallier, and Maddie Chevallier; two great-grandchildren, Cooper Davis and Landry Davis and her beloved "Black Cat".
She was preceded in death by her husband of nearly sixty years, Reverend Vernon Chevallier; her parents, one sister and four brothers.
Graveside services for Mrs. Chevallier will be at 1:30 PM Sunday, December 18, 2022, at Prien Memorial Park under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Reverend Bill Saxby will officiate. Memorial services with her family and friends will be held in her home community Saturday, January 7th, 2023, at St. Joseph Village in Coppell, TX.
