Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Weeks Janies, 79, of Sulphur, will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 10 am at the First Baptist Church of Sulphur with Dr. David Holder officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-9 pm on Monday, December 20, 2010 at Robison Funeral Home. Mrs. Imogene was born on October 28, 1931 in Elizabeth, Louisiana and passed away on December 18, 2010 in Sulphur, Louisiana. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sulphur and she loved playing the piano, but the joy of her life was her family. She co-wrote and had recorded a song about the horror that came to the small town of Elizabeth during a strike at the paper mill, called Terror Town U.S.A . She taught Sunday school for over 50 years, and was a lay minister at Central Baptist Church of Sulphur, where she also served as vacation bible school director for many years. She also went to Taiwan on a missionary trip, sang in the choir at First Baptist Church, and was a member of the Agin Cajun Choir. She served as a treasurer for the group Womens Aglow . She also ministered and played the piano at Holly Hill Nursing Home for many years. She loved visiting the residents there. Imogene was preceded in death by her parents: John and Ethel Weeks; 2 sisters: Pauline Creek and Joyzelle Adams; 1 grandson: Clancy Janies; 2 great grandsons: the children of Amy and Josh Byrd. She is Survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Mr. Clarence Janies; 3 sons: Rick Janies and wife Susan of Sulphur, Ron Janies of Sulphur, and Rodney Janies and wife Joan of San Diego, California; 6 grandchildren: Amy Byrd, Sarah Broussard, Adam Janies, Tina Matte, Derek Hart, and Levi Janies; and 6 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam Janies, Derek Hart, Johathan Matte, Josh Byrd, Art Broussard and great-nephews, Caleb and Hunter Bertrand.
