Irene B. Coco, 88, of Lake Charles died Sunday, October 28, 2012.


Mrs. Coco was born on May 8, 1924 in Lake Arthur, Louisiana to the parents of Gabriel and Mary Broussard. She was a 1941 graduate of Lake Arthur High School. After graduation she attended Mr. Vincent's Business School to study accounting. She worked for Lake Charles Bank and Trust as a teller for many years. In her spare time she worked as a Den Mother and she also worked with St. Margaret School. Mrs. Coco also served as treasurer and president of St. Margaret Altar Society and treasurer and Regent of Our Lady of Fatima 1506 Catholic Daughters. She also worked and volunteered at ESSA Pantry.


Mrs. Coco is preceded in death by her husband Carl S. Coco, her parents; Gabriel and Mary Monlezun Broussard, one sister, Sister Lurline Broussard.


She is survived by her children; Peter L. Coco and Connie, Agnes and Hopson Gowin, Hubert and Sallye Coco, Gregory and Marsha Coco, Julie VanWinkle and Jimmy, Robert and Ramona Coco and Monica and Kevin Byrne, one brother, Patrick Broussard and wife Betty, three sisters; Adele Harrington, Sister Magdalen Broussard, and Catherine Singer, 27 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.


Her funeral will be on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 1:00 PM at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Rev. Bill Miller will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Friday, November 2, 2012 at 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary and scripture service will begin at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday at 10:00 AM until 12:30 PM.
