Irene Louise LaRocque, 89, of Lake Charles, LA, went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. Irene was born on March 26, 1928, in Lake Charles, LA, to Adam and Felonise LaComb Authement.
Irene, or “Granny” as she was known to everyone, never met a stranger. She loved to travel and was known as a very inquisitive person. She was a very generous person who loved to feed anyone who came through her doors.
Irene worked as a waitress for over twelve years at Casa Mañana and also as an owner of Cajun Video for years. Granny was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Linda Poole, her son David Holland along with three brothers and three sisters.
Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband Leo and her two sons, Ted (Elaine) Holland and Sherman (JoAnne) Holland and her sister Stella (Tiny) Authement. She also leaves fourteen grandchildren and thirty-three great grandchildren.
Irene’s family will receive friends at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, from 5-9PM. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 8-11AM. Services will be officiated by Rev. Francis LaRocque at 11AM followed by burial at Highland Memory Gardens.
