Irene Wooten Pressley was born in Natchez, MS to Henry and Viola Wooten on August 16, 1927 and died in Lake Charles, LA on December 16, 2017 at the age of 90. Irene graduated from Natchez High School in 1945, where she was a basketball player and majorette.
After the death of her first husband, Albert F. O’Malley, Jr. she married Steve Pressley and in 1956 moved to Louisiana to make Westlake her home. Mrs. Pressley worked for several law firms in Lake Charles and later worked for and retired from the Westlake Police Department. Steve and Irene were married 60 years. He preceded her in death in June 2016.
Everyone who knew Irene knew she was full of energy and an avid shopper. She and her best friend, Cecile McKeivier, spent many hours shopping for bargains and had many funny stories to tell of their escapades.
Mrs. Pressley was a faithful member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It was important to her that people know of her love for God and love for her family. She had many friends and enjoyed people. Irene thought there was good in all people and she never entered a room without making a friend before she left.
Mrs. Pressley is survived by her daughter, Pamela O’Malley Noble, and spouse, John W. Noble, Sr.; son, Albert F. O’Malley, III and spouse, Charlene O’Malley all of Lake Charles, LA; brother, Henry Wooten of Texas and half-brother Bob Bazet and wife, Frances of Florida; grandsons, Jeffrey Sigmund of Sierra Vista, AZ, Albert F. O’Malley, IV and Dr. John W. Noble, Jr. and spouse, Lucinda of Lake Charles, LA; great-grand children, John W. Noble III of Lake Charles, LA and Madeline Noble of Dallas, TX.
She was preceded in death by Henry and Viola Wooten, Albert F. O’Malley, Jr. and Steve Pressley.
Many thanks to Irene’s caregivers; Mary, Norma Faye, Tammy and Jessica for the love and devotion they showed to her and her family.
Her funeral service will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:30 AM. Elder Malcolm Gibson and Elder Wade Smith will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Prien Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Johnson Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 AM until the start of the service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation may be made to the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 1537 Country Club Rd., Lake Charles, LA 70605.
