Irene Leger Vidrine, 90, of Lake Charles, LA went to be with her Lord on the morning of January 8, 2018 in a local nursing home. Irene was born on July 17, 1927, in Washington, LA to Louis and Lillian Vigie Leger, Sr.
A resident of Lake Charles since 1946, Irene was a homemaker and an “incredible” cook. She enjoyed spending time with her children and her grandchildren. She took great pleasure in raising and riding horses. She also enjoyed gardening, walking and reading. Irene was a faithful prayer warrior who spent many hours on her knees before her Lord.
Irene is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 71 years, Hammey E. Vidrine and one great granddaughter Avery Michelle Estep.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Virginia Lynn Estep of Plano, TX and LaDonna Faye (Patrick) Reddin of Lake Charles, LA; and, her three sons, Russell Wayne Vidrine of Akron, OH, Donald Clyde (Cheryl) Vidrine of Sulphur, LA, and Charles Edward Vidrine of Virginia Beach, VA. Those who will especially miss her are her fourteen grandchildren and her twenty great-grandchildren. She also leaves three sisters, Rose Ann Leger of Baton Rouge, LA, Ida Mae Loren of Baton Rouge, LA, Rita Garace of Melville, LA. and two brothers, Levi Leger of Palmetto, LA and Louis Leger, Jr. of Gulfport, MS.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 from 4-9PM at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the funeral home from 9-11:30AM on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home at 11:30AM, officiated by Rev. Kenneth Sonnier. Burial will be at Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home.
