Irma E. McCain (Duhon), 82, of Moss Bluff passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in a local hospital.
Mrs. McCain was born January 17, 1930 in Lake Arthur and was a 1947 graduate of Lake Arthur High School. She has lived the past fifty-seven years in Moss Bluff. She, along with her husband, owned and operated Handy Foods Grocery in Moss Bluff for many years. She was a member of the Diamond Dancers where she made many friends over the past ten years. Mrs. McCain was also a supporting member of St. Jude Children's Hospital. She enjoyed playing the piano, reading novels, gardening and especially loved to travel. Family gatherings were always a treat for her because of her love of her family and cooking.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted husband of sixty-one years, Julius Robert Bud McCain of Moss Bluff; her sister, Eva Newman of Crowley; four sons, William Bill McCain of Plano, TX, Jonathan McCain and wife Kathy of Youngsville, LA, Mark McCain of Moss Bluff and Danny McCain and wife Pam of Moss Bluff; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Burt Duhon.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Gateway Church of God in Moss Bluff under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Rev. Richard Watson will officiate. Interment will follow in Ritchie Cemetery. Visitation Friday will be from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Saturday will be at Gateway Church of God from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
