Irma Nunez Granger

Irma Nunez Granger, 93, of Sweetlake, LA died on June 17, 2017 at a local hospital.

She was born on September 2, 1923 to Adonile and May Connor Nunez in Creole, LA. Irma cherished her time with family and enjoyed cooking meals for large family gatherings.

She was the oldest of thirteen children and is survived by two brothers, Curtis Nunez and wife Virgie of Kinder, and Preston Nunez and wife Rita of Iowa, LA; one sister, Barbara Nunez of Kinder; sister-in-law, Florence Hoffpauir of Sulphur, LA; five children, Clement “Joe” Granger and wife Shirley of Lake Charles, Carol Granger, Madeline LaBove, Dwayne Granger of Sweetlake, and Frances Baccigalopi and husband Bobby of Humble, TX; seven grandchildren, Gregory (Benita) Whetstone, Troy (Ida) Whetstone of Sweetlake, Jennifer (Randy) Colburn of Cleveland, TX, Eric Granger of Charlotte, NC, Dodie (Jimmie) Resendez, Angel (Louie) Lozano, and Skeeter (Della) Baccigalopi of Humble, TX; twelve great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clement Lance Granger; granddaughter, Irma Louise Granger; and great grandson, Bodie Lance Whetstone.

Those honored to serve Mrs. Granger as pall bearers will be John Armentor, Eric Granger, Joseph Nunez, Cody Whetstone, Greg Whetstone, and Justin Whetstone. Honorary Pallbearer is Troy Whetstone.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Chapel in Sweetlake, LA at 10:00AM on Wednesday, June 21. Burial will follow at Granger Cemetery. Monsignor James Gaddy will officiate. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home at 4:00PM to 9:00PM on Tuesday, June 20. During visitation on Tuesday a rosary will recited at 6:00PM. Visitation will continue Wednesday morning at the funeral home at 8:30AM until 9:00AM.
