Irving Pierre Lapoint

Irving Pierre LaPoint, 80, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 12:05 PM on Friday, January 12, 2018 in his residence.

Mr. LaPoint was born October 13, 1937 in Mermentau, LA and lived all of his adult life in Lake Charles, LA. He was a dedicated worker for over fifty years at Bartley / Alfred Palma Construction as a superintendent, until his retirement three years ago. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mr. LaPoint enjoyed hunting during his younger years and loved listening to and dancing to French music. He was an avid LSU and New Orleans Saints fan who loved spending time outdoors. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and friend who loved people and had a giving heart. His love he gave to his family will continue to touch their lives for many years to come.

Mr. LaPoint is survived by his wife of twenty-eight years, Joyce Breaux LaPoint; son, Keith Alan LaPoint and wife Kimberlee; daughter, Katherine Ann Boyd and husband Robert; step-sons, Gregory Lee Breaux, Michael Anthony Breaux and wife Lisa, Jody Patrick Breaux, all of Lake Charles, and Mark Shane Breaux and wife Cindy of Grand Lake; step-daughters, Brenda Joyce Manuel and husband Charles and Cathy Ann DeVillier and husband Michael, all of Lake Charles; brothers, Eugene LaPoint and wife Louise of Minneola, TX, Emery LaPoint and wife Renata of St. Paul, TX, and Chester LaPoint (Jolene) of Sour Lake, TX; half-sister, Cassy Kendall and husband Winston of Sulphur, LA; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his beloved dogs, Chipper and Leo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Pierre and Edith Fruge LaPoint; and his first wife and mother of his children, Lydia Mae Cormier LaPoint.

His funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Father Wayne LeBleu will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a rosary at 6:00 PM and continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
