Isaac Leger

Isaac Leger, 82, of Hayes, LA, died at 5:44 AM on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 in a local hospital.

 

Mr. Leger was born July 12, 1936 in Church Point, LA and has lived in Hayes since the age of 8. He worked as a truck driver for Abel and Son for twenty years and then retired from Empire Gas. He had a great passion for music and loved to play the accordion and the fiddle. His band, Isaac Leger and the Country Cajuns played numerous events throughout the years. Mr. Leger was a member of the Cajun French Music Association, where he was in the Hall of Fame. He was a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church and made his Cursillo.

 

Mr. Leger is survived by his wife of fifty-nine years, Barbara Ann Courville Leger; sons, Isaac Anthony Leger, James Keith Leger, Richard Troy Leger and wife Tina, Ricky Paul Leger, Sr., David Glenn Leger, Terry Lynn Leger and wife Jillian, and Christopher Wade Leger; daughter, Crystal Ann Leger; siblings, Mary Semar, Freeman Leger, Jimmy Leger, Murphy Leger, Carolyn Smith, Elaine Thibodeaux, Ester Smith, Danny Leger; God-children, Stoney Courville and Ernest Myers; close friend, Ray Thibodeaux; grandchildren, Troy, Terran, Zannie, Steven, Ricky, Jr., Kristi, Eric Shawn, Kayla, Kylee, Hunter, Gavin and Gracie Jo; and eleven great-grandchildren, Jenna, Liam, Mila, Ridlee, Karigan, Ashton, Korbyn, Madison, Eden, Shawn, and Lilly.

 

He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Avia Leger; and brother, Doris Leger.

 

His funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, August 24, 2018 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Lacassine. Father Roland Vaughan will officiate. Burial will follow in Lacassine Cemetery. Visitation will be at Johnson Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 11:00 AM to 12:15 PM.
