Isabel Gott Thomas, 83, of Lake Charles LA died Friday evening, October 16, 2020 in a local hospital.
Mrs. Thomas was born May 25, 1937 and raised in Lacassine, LA. She married and moved to Lake Charles in 1956. She was a homemaker, an avid reader, and enjoyed gardening and sewing. She especially loved family gatherings.
She was a sweet and kind spirit who was loved by all. She was a devout Christian and a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church. She was a member of the Altar Society, the Catholic Daughters, and a Lay Minister to the homebound. She sang in the bereavement choir and was a member of the church prayer group. Prayer was always such an important part of her life. She was also a Catechist for 18 years as it was important to her that children know God. She was a member of the Lake Charles Garden Club.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 years, John Leroy Thomas, her children Cynthia Comeaux (Terry) of Lacassine, Rodney Thomas (Debi) of Lake Charles, Sharon Dugas of Lacassine, Anthony Thomas (Jeannine) of Grand Lake, and Tina Cheramie (Christopher) of Lake Charles, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a brother, Donald James Gott of Lacassine, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Beulah and Isaac Gott, and a brother, Larry Joseph Gott.
A rosary and graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon Harold Nixon will officiate. A memorial service honoring Mrs. Thomas will be held at a later date.
The family strongly encourages that attendees wear masks.
