Isidro Rafael Del Castillo Boronat

Isidro Rafael del Castillo Boronat, 86, of Lake Charles died on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 in a local hospital.

Mr. del Castillo was born on October 24, 1925 in Manzanillo, Cuba to Maria Teresa Boronat and Alfredo del Castillo Batista. He graduated high school in Cuba. Mr. del Castillo married in 1952 and began raising his two daughters in Cuba. In 1967 he made the difficult decision to move his family for a better life to the United States, settling in Lake Charles. Mr. del Castillo made a living for his family as a purchasing agent, retiring 24 years ago.

He took great pride in keeping his traditional roots instilled in his family. Mr. del Castillo had a passion for Latin music and dancing and also enjoyed authentic Cuban dishes. He was a member of the Spanish American Club.

Those left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Hortensia del Castillo Vincent of Lake Charles and Teresa del Castillo of Austin, TX; a granddaughter, Cristina Renee' Cypher and husband Charles Eric of Lake Charles; and a great granddaughter, Emma Renee' DeRouen of Lake Charles.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hortensia del Castillo; his parents; and four siblings in Cuba.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 10, 2012 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Burial will follow in Prien Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a scripture service being held at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Resthaven Nursing Home and also to the staff of Lake Charles Memorial Hospital, especially the Oncology Department, for lifting Mr. del Castillo's spirits even at his most trying times.
