Iva D. Smith

Iva D. Smith, 87, of Westlake, LA, got her wings on Friday, January 29, 2016.

Iva was born in Desoto Parish, LA, and has been a long time resident of Westlake and member of Westwood Baptist Church.

She enjoyed time spent with her friends and family, collecting red bird memorabilia, putting together puzzles, working in her yard, growing beautiful flowers, and taking care of her dog, Tar Baby, and bird, Jeb.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Porter Smith; her parents, Donoho and Gladys Porter; sister, Mary Miller; brother, Lester Porter; and several aunts and uncles- all whom she loved and missed very much.

She is survived by her daughter, Iva Marshall and husband Gene of Keithville, LA; her son, Randy Smith and wife Jennifer of Hot Springs, AR; four grandchildren, Allyson Peck and husband Jimmie of Keithville, LA; Amanda Thomas and husband Louis of Ida, LA; Garrett Smith and wife Abby of Hot Springs, AR; and Erin Smith of Jackson, WY; six great-grandchildren, Brittany, Brooke, Emilee, Erica, Samantha, and Jacob; three great-great-grandchildren, Autumn, Caleb, and Mallory; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Granny was well loved and she left an amazing legacy.

The family wishes to thank the ER and ICU staff at St. Pat’s Hospital, Granny’s friends who loved her throughout the years, and special friends David and Dorothy Broussard, whom she loved as her own.

A Celebration of Life service for Iva and Tar Baby will be held at Westwood Baptist Church on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:30.
