Iva Ruth Riddle Maynard

Iva Ruth Maynard, born Riddle, 82, of Lake Charles passed away at 5:50 AM on Sunday, June 4th in her daughter’s residence.

Mrs. Maynard was born on November 17, 1934 in Winfield, WV and had lived most of her life in Portage, IN.  She was a dedicated member of Portage Church of God.  She worked in Chicago, IL for General Mills.  Mrs. Maynard moved to Lake Charles 3 years ago to live with her daughter.

She enjoyed life and had a passion for cooking for family, entertaining others, and decorating.  She also loved flowers and especially liked getting her hair and nails done.  Mrs. Maynard will be remembered as a kind and caring lady and also for her delicious homemade peanut butter fudge and peanut brittle.

Those left to cherish her memory are three children, Diane Eldridge (Clark) of Lake Charles, Rhonda Wilson (Mike) of Portage, IN and Randy Maynard (Heather Schmidt) of Boise, ID; a sister, Nina Crowder (Wes) of Charleston, WV four grandchildren, Chad Eldridge (Kyla), Stephanie Precourt (Jeff), Dayna Ardoin (Rob), and Nathan Wilson (Elsa); and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Maynard; her parents, Villa and Samuel Riddle; and three siblings, Dorothy Smith, Lee Riddle, and Harold Riddle.

A celebration service will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel.  Members of Ruth's Loving Family will officiate the service. Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM and will continue until the start of the service.  A graveside service will be held in McCool Cemetery in Portage, IN at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2017.
