Ivan “Butch” David 76 of Carlyss passed away on January 17, 2020 in a local hospital. Butch was a devote Catholic and attended Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He worked as an operator for PPG retiring after 30 plus years and proudly served his county in the US Army during the Vietnam War. In his younger years he enjoyed fishing and shrimping with his wife and hunting with his brothers. After retirement he became an avid reader and loved watching the Saints and LSU games.
Butch is survived by his loving wife of 56 years Gayle David of Carlyss; daughter, Nancy Gray and husband Chris of Ragley; son, Ramsey David and wife Bethany of Beaver Dam, KY; 3 grandchildren, Allison Gray, Cohen Gray and Alex Phelps; 2 brothers, Roger David and wife Karen and Manuel David of Lake Charles; 2 sisters, Diane McInnis of Sulphur and Mary Louise Moak of Magnolia, MS; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Hazel David; and his sister, Delores David.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at 11 A.M. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sulphur with Father Tim Goodly officiating. Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 5-8 P.M. with a rosary at 6 P.M. at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Tuesday, January 21 at 9 A.M. at the funeral home until time of leaving for the church.
