Ivy Mae “Granny Mae” Douget Gautreaux, 89, of Lake Charles passed away at 10:29 AM on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 in a Welsh care facility.
Mrs. Gautreaux was born on August 11, 1928 in Welsh, LA and lived most of her life in Lake Charles. In her earlier years she worked at Sears in the shipping department. Mrs. Gautreaux was a member of St. Margaret Catholic Church.
She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking but most of all loved fellowshipping with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 29 years, David Gautreaux of Lake Charles; three sons, Terry W. Weise of Quinlan, TX, Russell W. Weise (Lorda) of Canyon County, CA, and Jerry J. Weise of Indian Springs, NV; three daughters, Linda F. Green (Charles) of Nocona, TX, Mary Mae Seitzler (Danny) of Prairieville, LA, and Wilma Cormier Pawlowski (Michael) of Sarver, PA; three step children, Frank Gautreaux, Annette Buras, and Linda Tootle (Tom) sister, Geneva Demarest (Larry Scrouton) of Ragley; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a step son, Tommy Gautreaux.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. The Very Reverend Marcus Johnson will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Garden Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff at Golden Age Nursing Home in Welsh and also to Crystal with Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for their exceptional care.
