Jack R. Reed, age 83, passed away Monday, October 25, 2010, at his residence.
Born January 19, 1927, in Battle Creek, MI, he was a resident of Lake Charles for many years. Mr. Reed was the owner/operator for over 30 years of Mr. Fix-It. He literally could fix just about anything. He also served as an Elder in the Lake Area Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mr. Reed loved the wildlife and being outside. Hunting, fishing, and shrimping were favorite pastimes of his, as well as watching football.
Preceding him in death was his father, Roland Reed, his birth mother, Regina Delaney Reed, brother, David Reed, and his grandson, Christopher Reed. Mr. Reed will be missed
by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Cori Reed of Lake Charles; his mother, Dollie Reed of Leondias, MI; six children, Robert Reed and wife, Genell of Cadillac, MI, Terry Reed and wife, Patti of Mendon, MI, Linda Becktel and husband, Jack of Cadillac, MI, Regina Reed of Chase MI,
Catrina Reed of Moss Bluff, and Amanda Hughes and husband, Phillip of Sulphur; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and two special young men born from the heart, Eric and Jason Cormier; along with a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2010, at the Westlake Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. James Cormier will officiate. Mr. Reed was cremated upon his wishes.
