Jack T. Young

Jack T. Young, 84, of Lake Charles, LA died Thursday, February 26, 2015 in a local retirement facility surrounded by his loving family. Jack T. Young was born on September 13, 1930 in West Monroe, LA to John and Eleanor Young. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, and being around family and friends. He enjoyed volunteering with local Civic Clubs and the American Legion. He was an avid Saints and LSU fan. He was past commander of American Legion Post 1 of Lake Charles. He was a business manager and comptroller for Westlake, and Sulphur as well as Calcasieu, Ouachita, and Washington parishes. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. He is survived by four daughters, Cherie Young Johnston and husband Keith of Westlake, LA, Glenda Young McCreary and husband Greg of Waco, TX, Lori Young Roller of Waco, TX, and Pamela Finkbeiner and husband Ted of Bouse, AZ; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one sister, Pat Cook. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Cindy Schultz Young; parents; one brother, Robroy Young; one sister, Mary Lou Shepard ; and one granddaughter, Lensie Renae Schmidt. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2:30 PM until time of service Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Johnson Funeral Home. Cremation has been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home. Dr. Rod "Doc" Perron will officiate services. Donations may be made to the American Legion Post 1. 1530 9th Street Lake Charles, LA 70601 in memory of Jack T. Young.
