Jackie Morris

January 5, 1947 — January 17, 2020

Jacquelyn (Jackie) Marie Porter Morris, 73, fulfilled her life-long dream of being with our Lord on Friday January 17, 2020.

She was a life-long resident of Lake Charles.  She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church where she was an active Eucharistic Minister and Lector.  Jackie was a proud 1965 graduate of Lake Charles High school where she served as a Kiltie Colonel and attended McNeese State University where she was a McNeese Cheerleader.  After McNeese, she worked for Sheriff Ham Reid where she met the love of her life Max McCain Morris, Sr.  They were happily married until the time of his death.

Jackie is survived by her son, Max McCain Morris, Jr. and wife Laurie, daughters, Leslie Morris Brown and husband Woody and Rebecca Morris Daigle and husband Rodd; and her 17 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilda and Alfred Porter; her husband, Max Morris, Sr.; sister, Jeanine Porter Pryor; and her daughter, Jeannine Morris LeJeune.

Jackie's passion was her love of her Church and her Catholic Faith.  She was an active member of many organizations such as, Lay Carmalites, Catholic Daughters, Padre Pio Prayer group, Sierra Club, and she was commissioned into the Order of St. George.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church.  Msgr. Daniel Torres will officiate.  Visitation will be Tuesday, January 21, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a Scripture reading and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM.  Visitation will resume on Wednesday Morning at 8:00 AM until time of service at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Burial will follow at Consolata Cemetery in Lake Charles.
