Jackie Rosenthal

Jackie Barsh Rosenthal, age 78, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2011, at her residence in Lake Charles.

She was born November 21, 1932, in Oakdale, LA, to Wade and Lottie Atwell Parrish. Mrs. Rosenthal taught high school English for over 28 years, having spent three of those at W.O. Boston High School, and the others at LaGrange High School. She enjoyed teaching, reading, and all of her pets she cared for.

She was a member of The Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing Bridge and was a member of the Lake Charles Duplicate Bridge Club, as well as the Junior League. Mrs. Rosenthal was also a past sponsor of the Senior Girl Scouts.

Preceding her in death was the father of her three living children, Don DeGabrielle, Sr., a daughter, Stacey Norris, and all of her pets she adored, especially Maggie. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her two sons, Donald DeGabrielle and wife, Catherine of Houston, and wife, Jeb Wade Barsh and wife, Chiara of Portland, OR; one daughter, Brandy Wheeler and husband, Jack of Lake Charles; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at Johnson Funeral Home. Msgr. Harry Greig will officiate. Burial will immediately follow in Consolata Cemetery. A visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at noon on Saturday.
