Jacques Ellis "E.J." Thibodeaux, age 74, went to meet his creator at approximately 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2010.
Mr. Thibodeaux, a resident of Lake Charles, passed away at his home per his request. Born and raised in St. Landry, LA, he moved to Lake Charles in the 1950's to pursue a career and a family. He retired from Firestone as a supervisor. E.J. lived a full 74 years, making everyone laugh, cherishing moments with his grandchildren. Family time was his favorite. He was the type to give you the shirt off his back. E.J. will be loved and missed forever by many. May God bless you E.J., Daddy, Paw Paw, and friend. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ellis and Louisa Thibodeaux, and two sisters, Eleanor Soileau and Jane Walker.
Survivors include his three loving daughters, Jacqueline Beam and husband, Jeff of Grand Lake, Vanessa Barnhart of Moss Bluff, and Rosie Soileau of Ragley; his six grandchildren who were the joys of his life, Alex Hacker, Cody Barnhart, Shelby Barnhart, Kayla Soileau, Grant Soileau, and Wyatt Soileau; one brother, Oveal Thibodeaux of St. Landry; one sister, Ola Guilbeau of Carencro; and the mother of his three children, Margie Thibodeaux of Lake Charles.
A visitation for Mr. Thibodeaux will be held from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles. A rosary will be prayed that evening at 5 p.m. His funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at St. Theresa's Catholic Church in St. Landry, Louisiana. Father Richard Dale Broussard will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the mass Wednesday, there will be a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. until the time of mass.
