Jacquetta "Jackie" Gaspard Zerangue, 70, passed away on March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 29, 1954, in Lake Charles, Louisiana, to JC Gaspard and Betty Lou Graham.
Jackie was a true servant at heart, always putting her family and friends first. She was a devoted wife, loving mom, adoring Meme, and a cherished friend. Jackie met the love of her life, Michael "Mike" Zerangue, while spending time with friends one evening. Their connection was immediate, and they went on to spend the next 52 and a half years together.
She loved camping, going to the beach (though she preferred to stay on shore), and traveling with Mike. Despite not enjoying cooking, she was an amazing cook, best known for her gumbo. She and Mike also enjoyed riding their Harley Davidson, making countless memories on the open road.
One of Jackie's all-time favorite things was cutting the grass. Even after her illness, she still asked to go outside and hop on the lawnmower. She was a simple, easy-going woman, and her heart was overflowing with love for her family.
Jackie's greatest joy was her grandchildren, and she never missed a sporting event or special moment. Jackie's devotion to her grandchildren was unmatched and she would drop everything to be there for them.
Jackie is survived by her loving husband of 52 and a half years, Mike Zerangue; her mother, Betty Lou Gaspard; her children, Josh Zerangue and Stacy Greene (Garrett); and her grandchildren, Ava Grace Greene, Eli Greene, Emilia Greene, and Ames Greene; and brother, Scott Gaspard.
A funeral service will be held in Jackie's honor on Monday, March 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Johnson Funeral Home in Lake Charles, with a graveside service to follow at Prien Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be open to the public on Sunday, March 23, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday morning at 9:00 a.m. before the service.
Jackie's gentle spirit and boundless love will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
