James (Jim) B. Welch, 63 began his journey with the Lord, family and friends in heaven on January 19, 2014. Jim was born on November 21, 1950 to James and Bernadine Welch in New Orleans, La. He lived in Lake Charles, but his heart was always in his hometown of New Orleans. After graduating in 1968 from Archbishop Shaw High School in New Orleans, he attended LSU where he received a Marketing Degree in 1972. Jim worked at Consolidated Electrical Distributors for over 20 years. He was a member of St. Martin DePorres Catholic Church. Jim enjoyed golfing with his friends and reading, but most of all he loved LSU and the New Orleans Saints. As many know, he dearly enjoyed life especially the holidays with family. Also his fondest memories are the great times he spent with the Buccaneers, Parrot Head, traveling to Mexico and the Dominican with family and friends. Jim leaves to cherish his devoted wife, Vicki Leger Welch; father, James B. Welch Sr.; mother, Bernadine Fernandez Welch; wonderful children, Blake Douglas Welch and Brooke Welch DeVillier and husband, James Christian DeVillier; sisters, Cindy Welch Germany and husband, Keith Germany, Lauren Ann Welch, J'Aimie Welch Canderlora and husband Dr. Peter Candelora. Being a grandpa to Braden Douglas Welch and Beau Anthony DeVillier was one of his greatest joys in life. He also cherished the Leger family, Kenneth Raymond Leger and wife Marcell, Sharon Leger Hearn and husband Wayne and Veronica Faye Leger. The family would like to express their grateful appreciation for the compassionate care given by St. Patrick's Hospice and Christy Michelle Hearn during the last few months. His celebration of life will be at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home. Deacon Glenn Viau will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 from 5:00pm-8:30pm with a rosary being recited at 7:00pm and Wednesday 8:30am-10:30am at the funeral home.
