James Allen "Jamie" Burt, Jr.

James Allen ”Jamie” Burt, Jr., 42, of Lake Charles passed away at 3:11 AM on Sunday, November 24, 2024 in his sister's home.

Jamie was born on June 10, 1982 in Lake Charles and lived all of his life in the Lake Charles/Iowa area and was a graduate of Iowa High School. Jamie worked as an operator in the construction industry, traveling across the United States and Canada for his work. He was known for his strong work ethic, dedication, and willingness to always lend a helping hand to others.

In his spare time, Jamie loved being outdoors, where he could hunt and fish. He also had a passion for cooking what he caught or killed. A lifelong sports fan, Jamie was particularly devoted to LSU football. He was a proud son, father, brother, and uncle, and his family was always at the center of his heart.

Jamie was the life of the party, always ready to have a good time and enjoy life to the fullest. His vibrant personality, infectious laughter, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Jason “Drew” Burt and Brennen Burt both of Westlake; his parents, Jackie Harris and James Burt, Sr. both of Lake Charles; sisters, Ashley Robinson (James) of Lake Charles and Chelsi Nelson (Chance) of Iowa; aunt, Kathy Harris of Lake Charles; uncle, Ray Harris, Jr. (Bonnie) of Lake Charles; and nieces and nephew, Hunter and Olivia Robinson and Andi Nelson. He also leaves behind a host of close family and friends. 

He was preceded in death by his brother, Robbie Burt; maternal grandparents, Ray and Adele Harris; and paternal grandparents, Rusty and Leona Burt.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 27, 2024 in the Johnson Funeral Home chapel. Reverand Shane Manuel will officiate. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin on Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary being recited at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the start of the service.
