James C. Gary, Sr.

James C. Gary, Sr., 80, of Lake Charles passed away Friday, July 30, 2010 in the comfort of his home.

Mr. Gary was born, raised and educated in New Iberia and Algiers, LA. He lived sixty years in Lake Charles. He served the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked in the Shipping Department of PPG Industries, retiring after twenty- seven years of service. Mr. Gary enjoyed visiting with people, never meeting a stranger. His passion was spending time with his grandchildren and raising animals of all kinds. He will be most remembered as a man of generosity. He was a devout Catholic, formerly a lay minister and a member of St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church.

He leaves to honor his memory, his loving wife of 59 years, Joe Anna Calloura Gary of Lake Charles; one son, James C. Gary, Jr. and wife Jeannie of Westlake; four daughters, Debra Cobb and husband Donald of Westlake, Tina Marcantel and husband David of LeBleu Settlement, Helene Massey and husband Tim of Grand Lake and Jolene Monlezun and husband Lawrence of Nacogdoches, TX; ten grandchildren, Kris, Bryan and Sheena Gary, Shelly, Dusty and Jeremy Bordelon, Joe Anna Gaspard, Gabbie and Kade Massey and Cody Monlezun; seven great- grandchildren and two sisters, Myrtle Cleboski of Houston, TX and Patricia Stevens of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Loadice and Aline Gary; three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Monday, August 2, 2010 in St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church. Father Keith Pellerin will officiate. Interment will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation Sunday will be from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM with a scripture service and rosary beginning at 6:00 PM. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM in the funeral home.
