James Carroll "J.C." Cormier

July 29, 1949 — April 1, 2023

James Carroll “J. C.” Cormier, 73, of Westlake, LA, passed away at 4:30 PM on Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Mr. Cormier was born July 29, 1949 in Church Point, LA and but lived most of his life in Westlake, LA, where he graduated high school.  He worked for the Lake Charles Police Department, later as a guard for Citgo and most recently for Sam Houston Jones State Park.  He had a servant heart and served on several boards, including the WestCal Event Center and Arena, Zoning Board, and was Westlake’s representative on the CVB (Convention and Visitors Board).  He was also a member of the Citgo Employees Club, United Way and served as director of the March of Dimes.  He was a great public speaker; his voice and tone projected as he spoke, and everyone paid attention and listened.  Mr. Cormier was a member of St. John Bosco Catholic Church.  He enjoyed traveling and taking cruises and loved McNeese football.  He was a great man and had a true love for his family and friends….he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Cormier is survived by his daughter Deanna Cormier Theriot; grandchildren, Bryce Cormier and Lyane Theriot; great-grandchild, Myla Grace Cormier; sisters-in-law, Betty LaRocca and Sheila Pousson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-one years, Wanda Cormier; parents, Joseph and Annie Bellard Cormier; sister, Mary Ann Thompson; and brothers, Rodney Cormier and Keith Cormier.

His cremation was entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.  A celebration of his life will be at a later date.
