James Chapman

James Anthony Chapman, 70, passed away in a local hospital on March 17, 2020.

He was born on March 18, 1949 in Kinder, LA to Orter and Eula Chapman.

He loved sports and enjoyed playing them when he was younger and watching them as he got older. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor, his love for life and food, and his kind, generous heart. Mr. Chapman adored his family and often wrote them beautiful poems. Mr. Chapman was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Third-Degree Knight. He was also a member of Our Lady of Lasalette Catholic Church in Sulphur. In his earlier years he was a Merchant Marine.

Those left to cherish his memory are his fiancé, Linda Sonnier of Sulphur; brothers, Gerald Chapman of Lake Charles and John Chapman and family of Kinder; sisters, Janet Philen and family and Judy Epperly and family all of Bridge City, TX; and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orter and Eula Chapman.

A private graveside service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2020. Monsignor Charles Dubois will officiate. Visitation will begin at Johnson Funeral Home on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. with a rosary being recited at 10:30 a.m.
