James R. Cumbie

James Roy "Jim" Cumbie, 72, peacefully passed away at his residence in Lake Charles, LA, on October 15, 2024. He was born on August 8, 1952, in Pensacola, FL, to William Cumbie and Louise Garrett Stenbeck.

Jim spent his formative years in Florida, where he developed a deep appreciation for the beach and various watersports. In the mid-1980s, he relocated to Louisiana, pursuing a culinary arts degree from Sowela Tech, which he completed in 1991. Jim's passion for cooking led him to explore various restaurant ventures and eventually secure a 25-year tenure with Coca-Cola.

He is survived by his son, Brett Cumbie of Jacksonville, FL, and siblings Chuck Stenbeck, Michael Stenbeck, Betty Sutherland, and Linda Wall, along with numerous loving nieces and nephews. Jim is preceded in death by his parents William and Louise.

A memorial service will be held at Johnson Funeral Home of Lake Charles Chapel on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at 4:00 PM, with visitation from 2:00 PM until the service. Cremation services have been entrusted to Johnson Funeral Home.
