James D. Savoy

Mr. James Doyle Savoy, age 79, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 in his residence. He was a native of Stowell, TX and a resident of Lake Charles.

Mr. Savoy served in the Army and Naval Reserve. He was a member of Pipefitters Local #106, member of Cajun French Music Association, member of the DAV, and former member of Mended Hearts.

Mr. Savoy enjoyed dancing, making Afghans by Swedish weaving, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Priscilla G. Savoy; one son, Elford James Savoy of Lake Charles; two daughters, Doyline Marie Wold of Houston, TX, Natalie Ann Covert ( Eddie) of Dequincy; step-children, Cindy Talbot (Robert) of Iowa, Mamie Marie (David) Parker of Lake Charles, Kenneth Elkins (Donna) of Grand Lake, Connie (Aaron) Peloquin of Iowa, Vivian Elkins of Iowa; one sister, Eva Lois Bertrand of Evangeline; 17 grandchildren and 11great grandchildren.

Mr. Savoy is preceded in death by his parents, Edolia Savoy and Elfred Savoy; two step-sons, Kurt Elkins and Carl Elkins.

Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10AM at St. Raphael's Catholic Church in Iowa. Father Tony Fontenot will officiate. Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday from 11AM-10PM with a Cursillo Rosary at 6:30PM. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8AM until time of service.
