James Don Thompson II left this life on April 17, 2013. Born in New Iberia on July 24, 1979, James was the youngest child of James and Janice Thompson.
James grew up in Lake Charles and graduated from Sam Houston High School in 1997. In 2000, he joined the US Air Force and served proudly for 4 years as a Visual Imagery and Intrusion Detection Systems Journeyman until completing his service with an honorable discharge. He moved back to Lake Charles in 2012 and was most recently employed at Infinity Network Solutions as a communications specialist. He was a member of Waters Edge church in Lake Charles and also regularly attended mass at St. Theodore's Catholic Church in Moss Bluff, LA.
James attributed his greatest accomplishments to be his two children, Haley Rae Thompson, born in 2003, and Carter James Thompson, born in 2006. James was married for 12 years to Jill Fuselier-Thompson, the mother of his children. He spent his final year of life with his fiance', Candice Delome-Nunez and her daughter Autumn, of whom he cherished as one of his own. He is survived by each of them, as well as his sister, Jaclyn Thompson-Broussard and husband Shelley of Lake Charles, and his life-long friend and cousin, Crystal Danette Borel of Westlake, LA, in addition to his nieces, nephews, and godchildren. James was preceded in death by his father, James Wade Thompson, whom he considered his hero; his mother, Janice Annette Rogers-Thompson; and his best friend, Daniel Zito of Lake Charles, LA.
A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Johnson's funeral home in Lake Charles, LA, officiated by Rev. Tony Bourque. Visitation will take place today at Johnson's beginning at 3:00 for family and 4:00 for friends and last until 9:00 PM. His final resting place will be in the old Ritchie Cemetery.
When life gave James a hundred reasons to cry, he showed life a thousand reasons to smile. His memory will be cherished forever.
A memorial fund has been set up at any Chase bank, and the family respectfully requests monetary donations in lieu of flowers to help cover burial expenses.
