James W. Dan Valarinos, Jr., 75, of Carlyss, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2010 in Sulphur. The family will hold a Memorial Service in Ohio at a later date. Mr. Valarinos was a native of Ohio, he has been a resident of Sulphur for 5 years. He was a member of the New Apostolic Church in DeRidder, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents: James & Frances Valarinos; 4 sisters: Marjorie Shafer, Thelma Yannayon, Elsie Moon, and Anastasia Day; 1 brother, Ralph Valarinos; and his first wife, Martha Day Valarinos. He is survived by his wife, Gretchen Valarinos of Carlyss; son, James W. Valarinos, III and wife Amie of Elizabeth, Colorado; 3 sisters: Katherine Shafer and husband Russell of Kent, Ohio, Helen Reed of Kent, Ohio and Rosemary Day and husband Leonard of Berlin, Pennsylvania; 1 brother, John Valarinos and wife Joanie of Rootstown, Ohio; 2 grandsons: James W. Valarinos, IV and wife Mariah of West Minster, Colorado and Brandon Valarinos of Colorado; 1 granddaughter, Dannielle Piersant and husband Patrick of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 3 great grandchildren: Anthony and Lucien Piersant of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Jozie Pointer of Elizabeth, Colorado; 1 step-son, John Carl Myers of Welsh; 1 step-grandson, Keith Comeaux and wife Kim of Carlyss; and 2 step-great granddaughters: Ebony and Krislynn Comeaux of Carlyss.
