James Ray Daugereau

June 12, 1930 — August 3, 2024

James Ray Daugereau, 94, of Sulphur died on Saturday, August 3, 2024.

Mr. Daugereau was born on June 12, 1930 in Port Arthur, TX, spending his youth in Elton, LA.

He served our country in the United States Navy with a combined service of active duty and reserves for a total of 22 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. While in the reserves, he owned his own barber shop in Lake Charles on McNeese Street. In his retirement, he settled on Toledo Bend enjoying fishing and boating with his family. 

He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Lois Sonnier Daugereau and the mother of his four children, Kimmith (Jenny), Bill (Carol), Greg (Kay), and Mona Stewart (John); his parents, George and Addie Daugereau; two brothers, Eckard and John Wallace Daugereau; and his second wife, Leola Fuselier Daugereau.

He was blessed with 10 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

He loved serving the Lord by participating in his church band at Trinity Episcopal Church in Sulphur. His favorite time of the year was volunteering in the October pumpkin patch on the church grounds.

Visitation at Johnson Funeral Home will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, August 9, 2024. A second visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 10, 2024 with a service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Doucet Cemetery in Roanoke, LA at 2:00 PM. 

Pallbearers will be: Jason Johnson, Christopher Saunders, Keith Bertrand, Trenton Brown, Eric Daugereau, and Paul Daugereau.
