James Duhart Davis, Sr.

Moss Bluff-- James "Dynamite" Duhart Davis Sr., 83, died at 11:53 p.m. Friday, September 15, 2017, in his home surrounded by his family.

James was born in Pleasant Hill, LA on May 18, 1934 to Hoyt and Marjorie McElroy Davis. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1953.  While attending school, he was employed with Henkley & Pilot.  His next job, at Diamond Alkali Chemical Plant, in Deer Park Texas, was where he earned the nickname "Dynamite."  He stayed at the plant for 22 years. James married Hilda Myers Walker in 1962.  During their 55 year marriage, they raised five children, Patricia Walker Manuel (Dennis), Pamela Walker Martin ("Buddy"), Trina Renaa' Davis (Andre LaCroix), James "Jim" Jr. (Karen), and Donald R. Davis.  In 1967, he moved his family to Westlake, LA where he was employed by Stauffer Chemical. Conoco VCM bought the company and James became a millwright. He retired from Conoco VCM after becoming a Maintenance Supervisor.  After surviving two hurricanes on Moss Lake, James moved with his wife to Moss Bluff, LA. James was a member of the Calcasieu Rod and Gun Club and Woodmen of the World.  He enjoyed playing canasta with friends and playing solitaire in his spare time.

He is survived by his wife, children, 11 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He has one sister, Evelyn Duvall, of Crockett, Texas, one niece, Terri Mansir (Larry), one nephew Raymond "Gene" Duvall (Wendi), 4 grandnephews and 3 grandnieces.

His funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, September 18, 2017 at Johnson and Robison Funeral Home, 107 W. Napoleon St, Sulphur, LA with Pastor Mark Bray officiating.  Burial will be in Mimosa Pines Cemetery in Carlyss under the direction of Johnson and Robison Funeral Home.  Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at the funeral home and will continue on Monday, September 18 at 8 a.m. until time of the service.
