James "Jim" Edward Kelley, 68, of Lake Charles died at 6:50 AM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 in a local hospice facility. Mr. Kelley was born on September 19, 1946 in Oakdale, LA and lived in Lake Charles most of his life. He worked in the engineering field and was in high demand for his expertise which afforded James and Susan to enjoy travels from coast to coast. Their favorite destination was Alaska. Mr. Kelley was of the Baptist faith. He enjoyed cooking and was a gun enthusiast belonging to the NRA as well as the Thoroughbred Association. Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 46 years, Susan Cooper Kelley; a son, Rev. Trevor Kelley and wife Deana of Grand Lake; one grandson, Zachary T. Kelley; a niece, Kristi Dufrene Abshire of Lake Charles; and a nephew, Michael Dufrene of Lake Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Edith Kelley and a sister, Patricia Kelley Dufrene. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in the Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. His son, Rev. Trevor Kelley, will officiate. Burial will follow in Grand Lake Community Cemetery. Visitation will begin on Monday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and will resume on Tuesday from 8:00 AM until the start of the service.
