James (Jim) Still, Jr. died September 1 at the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings, Louisiana, after a long illness. Jim was born in 1952, the first son of James and Vera Jo Still, in Livingston, Texas. The family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma, where Jim spent his early years. Jim attended Oklahoma State University until he joined the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He served in Washington, DC at the Navy Photographic Lab, where he pursued and developed his love for photography. Following his military service, Jim graduated with a business degree from McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He managed several photo labs in southeast Texas until he relocated to Holts Summit, Missouri, where he managed a home for handicapped adults. Jim was a loving father to his two children, Ashley and Seth, a faithful brother to Mike, a devoted son to his parents, and a friend to many. A man of deep Christian faith, he became a member of Yahweh's Restoration Ministry in Holts Summit, a group who continued to faithfully minister to him in the later years of his health struggles. Jim had eclectic interests and a warm smile for all. He loved photography, hiking, books, word puzzles, his cats, and good jokes. He will be remembered for his sacrificial love and his faith to keep moving forward to overcome the obstacles life threw his way. He is survived by daughter Ashley (and Sean) O'Neil of Austin, Texas; son Seth (and Jeni) Still in California; grandson Gavin O'Neil; mother Jo Still of Sulphur, Louisiana; brother Mike (and Becky) Still of Los Angeles, California; niece and nephew Emilie and Stefan Still; and ex-wife Cadie St. Romain. He is preceded in death by his father, James E. Still Sr., and brother Gary Still. The family greatly appreciates the staff of the War Veterans Home in Jennings, the Heart of Hospice, and the members of Yahweh's Restoration Ministry for their loving care for Jim and their faithful support of Jo. A family memorial gathering was held in Livingston, Texas. Memorial gifts may be given to Yahweh's Restoration Ministry (www.yrm.org/ministrysupport.htm).
