James Elridge Meche, 63, of Lake Charles died at 1:22 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 in a local hospital. James was born in Sulphur, LA on July 24, 1950. He was a graduate of Sulphur High School and Sowela Tech in Instrumentation. James worked many years in the petrochemical industry as an Instrumentation Technician. He was an avid sportsman that enjoyed shrimping, fishing, and hunting. He attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on Alma Drive in Lake Charles. He dedicated his life as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. He is survived by five siblings, Loretta Warren of Westlake, Betty Youngblood and Jody Higginbotham both of Lake Charles, Ella Barbe of New Orleans, and Richard Meche of Richmond, TX; one uncle, Voris Higginbotham of Church Point; and four nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Ivy Meche of Bosco; his mother, Mary Higginbotham Meche of Church Point, LA; and his sister, Marella Gertrude Meche. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2551 Alma Dr., Lake Charles, LA, 70607. Walter Littleton will officiate. A graveside service will follow in Mimosa Pines Cemetery South under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
