James Eric "Zydeco" Boudreaux

October 19, 1965 — June 5, 2021

James Eric “Zydeco” Boudreaux, was born October 19, 1965 in Creole, Louisiana to Paul Preston and Marie Rose Mae Boudreaux.

A lifelong native to Creole, he spent his childhood hunting, trapping, and what he loved most, working cattle. “Zydeco” followed in his father’s footsteps and had a passion for being a cowboy. He enjoyed every moment of time riding horse back and penning cattle. It was the simple things in life that brought him the most joy, especially time with his family. He was proud father to his sons, teaching them the cowboy way and the rewards that hard work brings. His famous saying was, I don’t like lazy.

He was employed with Louisiana Department of Transportation for over thirty years, until his retirement in 2019. Upon his retirement he took up gardening. He worked hard in it to provide for his family but also to give away the farm, his heart was built for giving and sharing. He also would drop what he was doing to help any in need.

He was a true Cajun at heart, he loved his Cajun French music, his bud light and would gladly entertain others bringing smiles, laughter and cooking a meal for those around him.

He was welcomed into Heaven by his father and two sisters, Ramona Faith Saltzman and Cheryl Theresa Boudreaux.

Those left to cherish his memory and pray they inherit his gardening skills are his wife of thirty-two years, Milissa Gail Dronet Boudreaux, his sons, Dustin Paul (Brandy) Boudreaux and Brendon James “Red” Boudreaux; the five apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Olivia Rose, Marlee Marie, Amelia Faith, Ridge Joseph, Waylon Preston; mother, Marie Rose Mae Landry Boudreaux; also his work family, many of whom he enjoyed his daily phone calls with. He touched so many lives and was loved and will be greatly missed by many of his family and friends.

He entered his eternal Home on the morning of June 5, 2021, with his family at his side.

The family will welcome friends at University Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, beginning at 4pm to 8pm, with a Rosary to begin at 6pm. Visitation will resume Wednesday, June 9th at 9am until time of service. Funeral services, led by Reverend Wayne LeBleu will begin at 10am, with burial to follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Creole, LA.

Pallbearers for the service will be Mitchell Baccigalopi, Robert Broussard, Frederick Boudoin, Jerome Carter, Laramie Lyons and Kim Richard.
